Why a Clock Radio Is the Best Way To Wake Up

I recently invested in an AM/FM clock radio, and I will never look back. Why? Because radio in the morning is the best way to wake up.

I'm not saying you shouldn't use your smartphone alarm clock. That's just a fine solution. But it was killing me. Every time I heard that harp sing sweetly to me around 7:15am, I would feel hate in my heart and paralysis in my legs. Tinkling bells or robot noises or even blasting horns couldn't rouse me. But you know what can? Hot 97, every morning, without fail. It's not necessarily about the on-air personalities, although they add a little flavor. It's about the tunes that help you start your day feeling good. You probably have a comparable station in your city that you like just as much.

This is totally attainable for just about anyone, too. There are plenty of good clock radios on Amazon (Prime, no less), for $20-$30. This is the one I'm using. It's not exactly the most stylish piece of hardware, but it gets the job done.

Call it a step back in terms of the technology available to us these days, but sometimes you want less tech rather than more. And sometimes simplest things are what make us the happiest. This isn't a call to use your smartphone less—just a nice alternative that might help you avoid getting out of the wrong side of the bed.
