You Can Get the Moto X on That Insanely Cheap Unlimited Plan Right Now

The Republic Wireless $20-a-month unlimited plan has always been an insane deal, but the catch was that the phones were awful. No more! Now Republic Wireless is offering the awesome Moto X, a huge step up from its previous best offering, the janky-ass Motorola Defy XT. With a phone like Moto X, the whole thing gets way, way better.

The Moto X is going for $200 with a two-year contract on traditional carriers, but somehow Republic—which piggybacks on Sprint's network—is managing to offer it for just $300 with no contract. A big deal, since unlocked developer editions are going for $600.

The Republic plan for the Moto X will cost you a little extra—$30 a month for unlimited talk, text, and 3G and $40 for unlimited talk, text, and 4G—but that's still dumb cheap. Especially considering you're getting a great deal on an awesome phone.

Granted, the landscape has changed a bit since we last checked in with Republic Wireless; other MVNOs are rocking the boat with dynamic billing, and FreedomPop is working on a free wireless plan. But $300 down and $40 a month for Moto X goodness and unlimited everything is still a damn good deal. It's nice to see Republic getting a phone it and you deserve.

Update: Holy crap, they've got a seamless handoff between Wi-Fi and cell towers now too! That's a huge deal; it fixes the other main problem we had with Republic. Hot damn, this deal is looking better than ever.
